Working in Irmo
Irmo is a seemingly pleasant town on the outskirts of Columbia, defining the suburbs to the T! The schools in Irmo are a part of Lexington/Richland District 5 which is one of the most distinguished in the state of SC; competitive in rigorous academics, sports, and the arts. Lake Murray is a huge part of Irmo's culture always circling with charity's, water sports, & an up and coming music scene! Irmo's small town charm appeals to many while also having it's own nightlife with a major mall, multitude of dive bars/billiards hall, and growing shopping centers. Irmo PD is always roaming town to keep this beautiful town safe in comparison to other parts of SC. The close proximity of the downtown area, as well as other neighboring cities with no more than a 45 minute commute max. Irmo is n ideal place to live to be close to the city and a skip away to the country, lake, and Georgia & North Carolina making it a more desirable upper-class section of Columbia.
Living in Irmo, SC for the past 4 years has been a nice experience. It's a nice suburb area with many great eats and just an overall great place to raise your children. What I like most about Irmo are the many festivals that are done throughout the year. Definitely check out the surrounding parks if you have children or if you just want to have an awesome barbecue!
Irmo is a great town to settle down and raise a family. Something I love about Irmo is how close it is to the lake. Many homes with an Irmo address are even on the lake! The people are pretty friendly and overall, Irmo is a quiet town. Not ever too much going on. The Columbiana Place mall is about a 15 min drive from my house in Irmo, which is also pretty nice. However, it's definitely not a great mall in that it is one story and there are no high end stores, hence why I stick to online shopping for the most part. If you want a night out on the town, bar hopping and going to a club, you definitely have to head to five points in Columbia. Not too bad of a drive-about 25 min away with no traffic. In conclusion, I really like Irmo for what it is but I don't see myself living here forever.
