Excellent trail system, very walkable and bikeable, lively community groups and community organizations, a good library, good arts scene, great local grocery, very good local newspaper, decent shopping and restaurant options, very low housing costs, otherwise cost of living is pretty average. Socially conservative.

I would like to see more job opportunities and things to do. There aren't very many activities here, especially since the bowling alley closed down.
Sometimes Iola seems like a run down drug town. But if you find the right people, there is a good community here. We have recently created a large bike trail system, and Thrive Allen County is working hard to improve the atmosphere.
