Small typical PA town. Lots of forest and outdoor activities, but limited shopping options. Cost of living is incredibly cheap!
Indiana is a small college town that is quite conveniently located between numerous larger towns less than 1 hour away as well as Pittsburgh at about 1.5 hours away. Despite being a college town, there isn't a whole lot to do in Indiana. I was born and grew up here, if there were well paying jobs in Indiana I would consider staying. Unfortunately, those surrounding towns have most of the jobs which calls for a decent commute for professionals. Also, the crime is nowhere near as bad as Niche.com makes it seem. Most of the numbers come from issues with college students that doesnt generally leak out into the local population.
Indiana is an incredible little town where old world charm meets the hustle and bustle of a university campus. Dubbed the "Christmas Tree capital of the world" it is a place where people grow up and grow old and very few outside of the college students ever leave. Main street is lined with smiling faces, waves, and small mom-and-pop style shops and the local trails are full of runners, walkers, bicyclists and strollers. Indiana is the kind of town where everyone knows everyone, looks out for one another, yet respect people's privacy and lives. I absolutely adore this little town, and the sense of community and wanting to help each other that it brings.
