Independence was/still is a safe, family oriented neighborhood with many services/benefits for its residents. The recreation department has the best sports areas and best swimming pool in the nearby vicinity. People come from all over. Best 4th of July fireworks. Cleanest town. Police presence is everywhere. Restaurants are numerous. Everyone watches out for each other. Most people here never left. Grew up here, got married & stayed. Great school system, churches for many religions, homedays are a gathering of old & new residents who reunite. Fire department is prompt. Nightlife is plentiful. Take care of the elderly here. I could go on and on but will just say I am thankful for my amazing childhood and now at 55 come back is a blessing.

I grew up here and came back when I got married. Raising two beautiful daughters and as happy as can be!
The town is extremely safe and ideal for families to raise children and have them attend top rated schools. Independence is also very clean and safe with police and rescue minutes away. The plows take a while to reach my neighborhood, however that is the only downside.
