Houlton is the perfect place to live. With rolling hills, farm fields, and friendly neighbors, there is a rural elegance to the area that allows for privacy and simplicity. You get the best of both worlds, being in a spacious township with a small community feel, yet you are close to larger towns, like Stillwater, MN. Only 40 minutes out of the Twin Cities, Houlton is an ideal place to raise a family. Growing up in Houlton, I remember riding my bike down winding country roads, breathing in fresh air, and admiring the beautiful scenery. I wouldn't want to call any other place home.
Having lived here for 23 years, it is a friendly safe community that has the Hudson school district of high quality and will begin a huge remodel this spring. The new St. Croix River Crossing bridge will be open this August 2017 and will benefit commuters from Wisconsin to Minnesota. We are actually only 30 minutes from St. Paul. The Beautiful St. Croix River Valley has much to offer for activities and including bicycyle enthusiasts. I love this area and proud to be a part of St. Joe Township in Wisconsin.
