Houghton is a very small college town nestled in Western NY. It's home to Houghton College and Houghton Academy, both highly esteemed educational institutions. It's surrounded by beautiful country scenery and is only fifteen minutes from Letchworth State Park which has earned the nickname, "The Grand Canyon of the East." It is very safe and extremely family-friendly. Just minutes from Houghton, there are a plethora of outdoor activities to enjoy and an extensive culture of quaint mom-and-pop stores and local restaurants. This rural setting can also be a drawback, though. The nearest major cities are over an hours drive away. Despite its distance from highly populated areas, it's a peaceful town with a college campus that offers many services and opportunities. Overall, Houghton is a good place to live and raise a family.

I loved the people and the tight-knit community. Everyone is very kind, and the town itself is beautiful. Although small, it still offers nice restaurants, comfortable housing, and a wonderful church. The rural trees, wide roads, and creek that runs through a forest all come together to make a very good place to be.
Wonderful, quiet, rural area with friendly people
