I really don’t like living here, I really use i could move back to Chesterfield , VA. Chesterfield is way better than living over here. It’s really noisy at night and some people don’t care about where they are driving, they just zoom past the roads.
I lived in Hopewell for 15 years. In 2016 the day after Thanksgiving someone walked up our driveway and shot me in the head. Police have never found the person. They said it was probably a hate crime. Whatever it was, it was and is terrifying. Don’t move to Hopewell.
I moved to Hopewell for two decades and the best move in my life as a 28 year military veteran. The school system is one of the best. Ft. Lee is a few miles away and my job at the Federal Prison System is only minutes away from my house. The town's Public Works Department is definitely on the job. Well managed small city. The people seem to be very friendly and my neighbors look out for each other. I have an alley going through my property which I don't care for, however, no place is perfect. There are enough stores and restaurants, furthermore, this city is nearby Colonel Heights, Chester, Prince George, Petersburg and Richmond. What more can I ask for? I love the VSU Trojans and the Hopewell Blue Devils. Thank you God for my Town... Perfect no. Comfortable. Yes indeed.
amazing place's to live and great to understand the people. I am a single mother living with my mom, little sister, my beautiful little girl that has borderline Autism which is a Speech and language problem. But I believe she is a gift from God and the greatest miracle of life she taught me to never give up on my dream even when life hits you with curbs balls. I am very wonderful and joy kind of person when it comes to playing with children so I had volunteer helping with my church in the 2 to 3 year old teaching them: who the Lord really is in their lives?, why is Jesus Christ so special to them?, and why is it so important to have the Lord in your heart?. This will give the children a chance to know who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit really is to them.
Hopewell must be a very nice place for the locals, but for many years has been known as a small town that once preyed upon out of State motorists to make the budget. Out of State vehicles were targeted by the Sheriff’s office on the very small section of I-295 within the city’s jurisdiction for ticketing. And the same Judge that worked with the Sheriff to start the program, heard those same speeding cases. That mentality is hard to change, and hasn’t changed for years.
This place is horrible i would advise to either go to Richmond or something. Most kids hate it here so much that they never come to Virginia ever again .the schools here will bully your kids and caused them To have severe mental health problems .come at your own risk
Hopewell schools have a small town feel, but sometimes it feels a little backwards. There are a lot of factories and sometimes it cause air quality issues. I also wish there was more diversity of cultures.
Its been very good. The people and places are so nice. I moved here when I was in the fourth grade and I remember right off of the bat my neighbors were so nice and so welcoming and it's still that way
I’ve lived here all my life it’s pretty boring. If you want to have fun or go shopping you have to travel 15 minutes-1 hour. It is a tight community everyone knows everyone. Nice festivals and city events though.
Hopewell is a very small town with some fun things to do. The Hopewell Downtown Partnership has created a few nice stores and restuarants that could attract more people. Other than that, there are some pretty dangerous parts of Hopewell.
I honestly moved to hopewell because it was closer to my elderly mother. I also appreciated the fact that my new neighbors tend to look out for one another. They have lived in that neighborhood for almost 30 years and have a strong foundation of what a community real should be.
Very nice city. 15 minutes just about anywhere. Historic locations near by. Good schools. Near Ft. Lee army base. Adjacent to Appomatix River great for fishing, enjoying the water, or family walks. Local library and community center. Local bus system.
Very boring city. You literally what you make it. Most of everything is in Colonial Heights. There’s barely any supermarkets or shopping places in the town. The school system is really good. The high school has brought such positivity to the city!
Ok. Need more affordable housing. More jobs better schools teachers that are more concerned about bullying.
Great people very kind and willing to help. Small town living . Great Blue Devils spirit. Everyone knows everybody and there kids. The churches are great. Hopewell schools are very new and upgraded.
I have been living in Hopewell all my life. Everyone round here is great and friendly, as well as diverse. The school are great and they include teachers that are their in the school system to help you he successful.
Hopewell was once a wonderful place to live and work. In the last few decades, a lot has changed; good, hard working people with families either moved out or died, and the seedier population moved in. It's still not the worst place to live, and some areas are actually very nice. Cost of living vs. job availability and average rate of pay is pretty bad.
