For the first nine years of my life, I lived in Chicago. When I first moved to North Carolina, it was a very intense culture shock. I always thought it was funny when strangers would randomly smile and wave at me rather than look away. As the years passed and I adapted to my new home, I started to adore everything about it. I loved how our small downtown was vibrant and filled with restaurants and small businesses. I started to wake up every Saturday morning to volunteer and shop at the local farmer's market. Sometimes after work, I would walk to the library and read outside by the nature trail. I love how close-knitted our community was.
I feel like a lot of change is happening right now at Holly Springs like construction, new roads, and housing. Although this new development is exciting, it's pushing lots of original residents outside the area due to financial instability. I wish we could slow down on the construction a bit, and raise more community involvement in these decisions.

I have been in Holly Springs for 24 years. The town has gone from ~7,000 people when we moved here to ~35,000 now. The growth has been handled well and has added multiple amenities to the Town. Originally the center of town was somewhat neglected and the town has patiently been bringing restaurants and other unique options to the center of town. The city has developed excellent parks such as Bass Lake and Sugg Park to allow a multitude of green space options. The soon to be complete 540 tollway will continue to improve access to the airport, RTP, new Apple Campus, etc along with local high tech jobs in Holly Springs such as Fuji Diosynth. City Services are exceptional with little to no crime. New developments are sprouting routinely and home prices have appreciated significantly. Beautiful developments such as Sunset Ridge offer a timeless and scenic example of how suburban development should occur. One of the best areas not just in NC but the US!
Growing up in Holly Springs, I've noticed a lot of opportunities for individuals to grow and thrive in their career. I am a choir student at Holly Springs and one of the most significant parts about being in choir are the trips we take around the area. It has allowed us to learn more about Holly Springs and how dedicated the community is to supporting the arts programs. As an employee in the area, I have been greeted by my staff and customers alike, who make being a waitress a more pleasant experience. The diversity is thriving due to the affordable living and I think that is one of the most important aspects about Holly Springs, as the diversity allows for more people to feel comfortable. I think that there is still work that can be done about discrimination, but for the most part, the community has shown strides in making Holly Springs a more welcoming place that fosters acceptance to every individual. Growing up in Holly Springs has allowed me to find a sense of purpose.
