I grew up in this town. The one thing it is lacking is activities for children. The only playground is on the K-8 school grounds, no town pool/ lake, limited extra curricular activities due to the small size, etc. It is safe, cute, and I love the idea of dropping all the kids off at one school until HS when they get bused. There are better towns in the area for young families. HHK is good for older families.
Ho-Ho-Kus is a nice small town perfect for kids to grow up. There is a great public school right in town that has K-8 grades. There are many small business here and lots of friendly business owners. There is also a beautiful water stream that goes across the town of Ho-Ho-Kus.
Very little crimes and the police are super responsive.
As a long time NJ resident we looked closely at every town in Northern NJ and HHK had the best of everything we were looking for. The schools were great, lots of well educated families, a town you could walk to, great restaurants, the ability to get really involved in the town or not at all and reasonable taxes compared to the rest of Bergen County. After 6 years of living here my wife and I agree this is the best town to live in and raise a family.
It is very expensive to live here but the neighborhoods are beautiful and the schools are excellent.
The police are great. They will be to your house in 1 minute if you call for assistance.
It's a great area. Kids come back here to raise their families.
It's a very small, wealthy neighborhood. The small community is located in a beautiful part of New Jersey which makes it a nice place to live.
