Lived a year so far and love this town. Residents joke that it’s Pleasantville or Mayberry North. Tons of young families. Very good for the 30s/40s with young kids. Very friendly neighbors. You feel like you can leave your doors unlocked. West of 17 is all walkable with sidewalks - convenient to a small but nice downtown with several good restaurants (best sushi in the area). Convenient to Ridgewood, wyckoff, allendale, WCL shopping, Wegman’s etc. And as safe a town as you can get.
I grew up in this town. The one thing it is lacking is activities for children. The only playground is on the K-8 school grounds, no town pool/ lake, limited extra curricular activities due to the small size, etc. It is safe, cute, and I love the idea of dropping all the kids off at one school until HS when they get bused. There are better towns in the area for young families. HHK is good for older families.
Ho-Ho-Kus is a nice small town perfect for kids to grow up. There is a great public school right in town that has K-8 grades. There are many small business here and lots of friendly business owners. There is also a beautiful water stream that goes across the town of Ho-Ho-Kus.
