I have lived in the Hinsdale/Burr Ridge area for over 10 years. I attended school in District 181 and went to Hinsdale Central. I will say a few things. If your family is making approximately $200k or less, don't move here. You won't be able to live comfortably at all. Hinsdale Central isn't worth dropping 700k+ on a house over. If your annual income is less than $200k live somewhere more affordable with good schools like Buffalo Grove. If you are a minority, especially African American and/or Latino, things will be difficult. There are a lot of entitled racists in Hinsdale. If you are more liberal, keep in mind that Hinsdale is very republican. If you like nice roads, Hinsdale honestly sucks when it comes to nice roads. There are always closed roads. The education is good. However, I think mental health is a big issue in this area with teenagers. The town is very safe, the library is nice, and there are lots of parks for children to play in.

Hinsdale is a charming quaint town. The town is great for raising a family! The area has excellent schools from pre-k to high school. There's many good restaurants, in downtown hinsdale. I recommend Nabuki... some of the best sushi in the Chicagoland area! The town is overall safe, clean, and a great place to live!
Hinsdale is all about location. It's location is it's greatest asset with a 15min train ride to the Loop, 20min to both Midway and O'Hare, and easy access to I-294, Rte. 83, I-55, and I-290 all make it extremely attractive to professionals working downtown, especially when compared with more inconvenient and isolated North Shore suburbs. The schools are excellent and there is definitely a small town Americana feel about the walkable community. There is definitely very apparent wealth in the town, but there are also many who devote their entire income to living here in order to access the top-rated schools. It is a great place to raise a family.
