Great community. Everyone lives their days with enthusiasm, and crime rates are extremely low. Overall a great community!
I've lived here for about 9 years and everything so far has been pretty enjoyable. The only issues are that diversity is lacking in the community and the general socio-economic standpoint is a rather focused one, making it difficult to become part of the community coming from what might be considered a less fortunate area. Also, there don't seem to be many "nightlife" activities, which makes it necessary to commute elsewhere for things to do.
I have lived in the Hinsdale/Burr Ridge area for over 10 years. I attended school in District 181 and went to Hinsdale Central. I will say a few things. If your family is making approximately $200k or less, don't move here. You won't be able to live comfortably at all. Hinsdale Central isn't worth dropping 700k+ on a house over. If your annual income is less than $200k live somewhere more affordable with good schools like Buffalo Grove. If you are a minority, especially African American and/or Latino, things will be difficult. There are a lot of entitled racists in Hinsdale. If you are more liberal, keep in mind that Hinsdale is very republican. If you like nice roads, Hinsdale honestly sucks when it comes to nice roads. There are always closed roads. The education is good. However, I think mental health is a big issue in this area with teenagers. The town is very safe, the library is nice, and there are lots of parks for children to play in.
