Hill City Reviews

I lived out in the country... thirty minutes to Hill City. It was worth the high gas costs and time, however. Hill City is a gorgeous area with plenty to do. Nature surrounds this little town of less than a thousand. It causes people to get out there. Alongside that fact, the school is great, being ranked #1 in the state for its teaching of certain subjects in the past. The staff and school itself are just wonderful and the students are all pretty decent to be around. The community is close, and even if you aren't the most social butterfly out there, you'll be able to know many of the residents by name. The town has everything you really need, from a small grocery store to various restaurants, and with Rapid City less than an hour away for the big trips when you need something extra. I love Hill City, SD. I would live there again in the future if I could.

I enjoy Hill City because it's a small town, with small town life. The place is very locally oriented from fall to spring, but in summer it becomes a bustling tourist town. It's friendly and familiar, but welcoming, especially to new residents. Overall, it's a Midwest town with a unique and seasonal character.
I've lived in Hill City for six years now. The biggest complaint by people is that the entire city shuts down at around 9 at night. It's distance to famous monuments (Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, etc.) is not very far. The scenery is utterly beautiful.
