Highwood is a slice of heaven in the burbs. It has all the amenities you can ask for in a town - lively walkable downtown with boutiques, bars and restaurants galore; beaches, public transportation, forest preserves and bike trails. Best of all, it has more festivals than you can shake a stick at. Couple that with a mix of housing options, great schools and diversity; it's the best city in the suburbs!

Town becoming gentrified. Not a large variety of services for elderly, or those at risk. No developed park district system.
Highwood is a great neighborhood with a nice night life and very family friendly. Just minutes away there is the neighboring town of Highland Park which is very vivid. Metra train passes right through and only an hour away from the city of Chicago.
