We LOVE Highland Village. We walk and ride our bikes on the city trails. We are less than 1 mile from Lake Lewisville, and enjoy hiking the trails around the lake as well. We are walking distance to Whole Foods and often walk to bike to get groceries that we need for dinner. The schools are excellent. We have had 2 kids graduate from Marcus HS. One is doing extremely well at Texas A&M, and the other is headed to University of Arkansas with an in-state tuition waiver. Another thing that we love about Highland Village is that it feels like a small town, but it is still close to everything. We take the DART train to concerts downtown. We have pretty much every retail store within a 3 mile proximity, but, when we sit in our backyard, we feel like we are in the country. I am a Realtor, and I have so much pride when I show people my home town. I believe that this is an area where real estate will hold its value over time. I cannot say enough great things about Highland Village.
My family and I moved to Highland Village at the beginning of 2019 and could not be happier with our decision. Highland Village is surrounded by some bigger cities, but still feels small and has a close sense of community. The neighborhoods are very safe and the police officers make us always feel safe, as they can always been seen patrolling and interacting with community members. The schools in Highland Village are part of Lewisville ISD and are some of the best in the district. We have kids in all level of schooling and they all love their individual campuses.
I have grown up in Highland Village my whole life, and I have for the most part loved it. There is a lot to do and it is, in general, a very well kept area. However, while most people are very kind and welcoming, a number of people can be snobby and very biased towards many minority groups. I am Persian and have very brown skin, so I have experienced examples of this bias multiple times.
