I'm sure it was great in it's Prime, but it's well past it's prime. There are lots of places you should not venture, the triangle realtors and investors have elevated housing costs by buying shacks and "remolding" them to sell at triangle prices causing rent & property prices to increase. Vance Co has one of the highest crime and property tax rates in the state. It should not look like a run down town but it does.
Restaurants are sub par at best. Every week we hear of a new shooting and crime is high. This town could be good again but they must get rid of the democrats and long term politicians first to get that change.
Internet is not everywhere either. There are still lots of places where you can only get satellite internet. Private and charter schools are best, public sucks. Good childcare is hard to find as the good places are full and waitlisted and bad places are in the wrong location. Hospital is also filthy.
I'd avoid Vance Co. And stay in Durham or Wake Co.

I like the restaurant, recreation parks, and the growth in schools and job opportunities . I would like for the crime rate to change, such a small town, with such high crime rate. The younger generation need mentors, and role models. The younger generation needs activities, that will occupy more of their time.
Henderson has it's good and bad like any other place in the world. Growing up in Henderson you often hear people complain about Henderson and wanting to leave as soon as they grow up, but honestly you learn it is not as bad as you think. Yes, it does have a lot areas I would not advise going to but it does have a lot to offer. Henderson has many different places to eat. It also has a drive in movie theatre, which are not many left around.
