If you are looking for a small town far enough away from the congestion, yet close enough to many diners and restaurants, shopping, then Helmetta is a good place to be. About 15 to the NJ turnpike it is a quiet town, with a great sending school district, terrific neighbors, and friendly people. A kids park next to the lake, with fishing access, boating and many activities throughout the year for adults and kids. A small town that is pretty much built out and not prone towards high development. Much of the area is wooded, you will see deer, skunk, rabbits etc., and a lot of other wildlife.
Helmetta is a very small town and it houses many different types of people. It is probably not the safest town to live in but I, personally, have not run into any life-threatening issues. My favorite place in town is the bagel store on Main Street!
I would like to live in a town about 15 minutes from where I am now, which would be Milltown, because I love the community atmosphere, I love the town itself, and a lot of my friends reside there. My town is very small and I don't really like the people who live here because they are mostly bad news. I honestly see it getting worse in the future and I hope to live elsewhere within the next five years.
