As far as towns go, Healdsburg homes are in general very old-from the 1930s up to the 1960s and most need to be renovated. New construction is rare and expensive. Not many lots are for sale. This is a tourist town and thousands of tourists flock to "wine country" throughout the year. The stores and restaurants and hotels cater to tourism. Over 50% of the homes in Healdsburg are rented out or are owned by absentee owners who use them as vacation homes so it is very different from a small town where the residents own their own homes and populate the schools. The schools have been losing students for years and do not have high ratings. Most people send their children to private schools in another town. If at anytime the wineries left and the hotels disappeared, Healdsburg would go back to being a small insignificant town.
Healdsburg is a wine-growing town where a lot of tourists like to wine taste. It's a small town so sometimes you think there's not much to do. One interesting fact is that the town plaza fountain was filmed in the movie Scream if you're a fan of it like me. My favorite place to go to would be Badger Park because of the trail it has that is next to the Russian River. The negative is that the town is expensive so the place I usually get my food is called the Vineyard Plaza which has a Safeway, 3 banks, and Dollartree. Overall a nice place just very expensive.
Healdsburg is a great small town with a decent public school system but it is also within 15 minutes of Cardinal Newman High School as well as Santa Rosa Junior college. It has lots of cute shops and great places to eat, but it is extremely expensive to live there and there really isn't all that much to do if you're under the age of 21 and don't want to go wine tasting every weekend.
