I've lived in Haymarket my entire life. It's a great place to raise a family, however the area is rapidly changing. For example, 10 years ago, it took my parents 30 minutes to drive to the next town to go to the grocery store. Now, we have five grocery stores within a five mile radius. It's growing quickly, which means schools are being built frequently, there's an influx of traffic, and sometimes the school capacities overflow while new ones are being built. Haymarket is struggling to accommodate the rapid population growth. However, it is slowly but surely catching up. I attended public schools in Haymarket (Prince William County) and all of them were great. There a lot of opportunities for extracurricular activities whether a child is in Pre-K or in high school, too. Haymarket, overall is a great area to be, but it is subject to rapid growth.
Haymarket is a very competitive, wealthy neighborhood. The area is filled with great work opportunities, amazing shops (including higher end brands), and nice attractions (like parks) that make it fun to live in the area. However, the people can be more asserted to the wealth, which sometimes creates a hostile environment.
Haymarket is a small town that is booming with local business. We have the official "Town of Haymarket" which houses our Walmart, Kohls, Ice Plex, Food Lion, and Fosters Grill, along with many small local shops and eateries. The rest of the town is encompassed by several neighborhoods including: Westmarket, Dominion Valley, and Piedmont. Battlefield High School is right across route 15 from our Giant, Hair Cuttery, and several restaurants.
