Hawthorne is a peaceful neighborhood. There is a lot of activities that young kids can participate in. The best thing about hawthorne is that you have many parks, restaurants. stores, malls and it's near the beaches. The hawthorne center gives young adults a chance to volunteer at events and even gives them community service hours. It's diverse everywhere and and everyone is very sweet and respectful! It's pretty affordable here, you can find a nice house with a good budget too. I think that there has been good improvement through out the years. I believe that the school districts around here should be improved. You may encounter rude people at the offices but other than that, many nice teachers who care for the students education. I currently go to hawthorne high and i can honestly say that they have great clubs on campus! On my block, there is a lot of people who walk at night with their dogs and that just shows that it's peaceful around here!
I moved to Hawthorne two years ago because it’s one of the few semi-affordable places to buy a home in the LA area. I live in Ramona Tract and I love my neighborhood. Great people. Good, kind, hard working people and very diverse. There’s plenty to do here. Lots of great restaurants, shopping, and so close to the beach. I feel very safe here. The weather is amazing - usually cooler than the Westside or downtown in the summer and always a nice ocean breeze. Schools in Wiseburn are great, but the rest are average. That’s one of the few downsides. There are also quite a few run down businesses and auto shops along Inglewood Ave and Rosecrans. I wish the city would clean things up a bit more, but that’s a minor detail. Everything else is great!
I have been living in Hawthorne since I was 3 years old and it's definitely changed throughout the years. The city has grown and there is a lot of diversity. However, it's part of Los Angeles and it's a little expensive. If I had to choose an issue is parking; it's a mess!
