Haworth is an absolutely gorgeous and underrated community. The Haworth Public School is excellent with small class sizes and committed teachers, administrators and parents. The town has a lot of character with a quaint downtown, beautiful and unique homes, duck pond, walking trail by the reservoir and two country clubs. Every street is tree-lined. The library is amazing with a separate wing for kids and dynamic programming. There’s a 5K race, Spring Garage Sale, streets are closed for Halloween (it’s quite a celebration), and many events and things to do throughout the year. It’s a five-minute or less drive to Closter Plaza where you can shop, grab a bite, work out, go to the movies, etc. A++!
I have lived in Haworth for 20 years. Growing up in this small, quiet town was definitely beneficial to my child development as there were always many kids playing together in the neighborhood. The streets are not so busy, which makes it a nice place for walking, running, or bike riding. There is also a tennis court, basketball court, a pond for fishing, and its own strip of stores and shops. Haworth also has an amazing school system so no child will be left behind when it comes to his or her education.
Haworth is a small town surrounded by Dumont,Closter,Emerson, Demarest and Oradell. If you blink you might miss it. Lived here for almost two years and it's been nice. Quiet town and very relaxing. Not much shopping in town. It is however, surrounded by other towns with many shopping amenities. There is a small business district with some decent stores, hardware, post office, quick mart, dry cleaner, Italian, cafe, liquor store, florist, apothecary, etc. Some charming aspects of the town are the duck pond, the deer roaming around(not too bad), lush greenery of surrounding Haworth country club and the little overpass bridge. Not much diversity but we have easy access to NYC through the 186, 177x through the Massachusetts ave stop. Driving to NYC is even shorter. If you are looking for a quaint, safe town with good schools to raise your family, it's a good choice. Housing is expensive but there are entry level houses with a decent size available. We are happy here!
