There's no place like home. Harvey has been my home for the past 25 years. I have been born and raised in Harvey, IL and I wouldn't change it for a thing. I owe the best childhood memories to this city. Being actively involved in extracurricular activities and in the community at a young age. Recently, Harvey has not been a positive area to visit. Businesses are failing, violence is increasing and schools are closing. I would love to see change. Harvey is in need of a change. I would love to see children playing outdoors again, being able to shop locally and to enjoy a safe evening at a community event. Harvey is capable of being great again, if the residents including myself are all on board for changing the city for the better.

Harvey was once a growing a thriving city, but after years of neglect, the city has fallen. There is still opportunity to reverse the current state of it. The current mayor is working hard on increasing job opportunities and lower the ever growing poverty rate. Also the people of Harvey are working hard to help those in need. Providing support for families in need and supporting local businesses.
I love that even through it is a low income city, there is a lot of people who motivate themselves and work hard to get to where they want in life. Harvey is special to me in various ways. For instance, I was raised in Harvey all my life and I have seen many things happen, most were pretty bad things that other people don't see in there communities but what is important is that you can learn so much from the experiences you go through in life and that is exactly what I have learned. You can only grow if you want to, you take the bad that you always knew and you turn it into good.
