I have lived in Hartley, Iowa for the majority of my life. One of the positives of a small town is how you know almost everyone. On the flip side though this can be a negative because with the closeness means "great" news travels fast. Around Hartley there is very little to do year round. When summer comes there is a small pool, a park that has tennis/basketball courts, couple of small parks and a baseball diamond. During the colder months you will have to find something inside or hope there has been enough snow to make sledding in your yard a pass time. All in all when it comes to entertainment you either will have a get together at a friends house or travel a minimum of 30 minutes to get to a town with activities. Change wise I would like to see better businesses brought in to give people job opportunities with out having to drive far. By bringing larger operations in you will also improve economy.

I love how small Hartley is, there are practically no noises except for children playing, and tge schools are a great size.
Hartley is a small and quiet town. It has a population of around 1000. Nothing ever really happens in the town. The most significant thing is the people in the town. Everyone has an interesting story and it's always fun to hear what they have to say.
