Living in Hartford, CT as a senior in high school was a truly positive experience. Hartford is a vibrant and diverse city that offers a wide range of opportunities for young individuals to grow, learn, and thrive.
One of the highlights of living in Hartford was the strong sense of community. Despite being a city, it often felt like a tight-knit neighborhood where people knew each other and looked out for one another. This sense of community was evident in the various events and activities that took place throughout the year. From neighborhood festivals to cultural celebrations, there was always something exciting happening in Hartford.

Hartford is a rough place. I moved here from Bloomfield when I was about 5 years old. Throughout my time in Hartfords school system I have encountered many bullies, less-than-desirable teachers, and even some horrible teachers. The parks have broken glass and cigarette butts strewn across the ground. Our schools have no teachers. The road is always under construction yet never any better. Hartford is a rough place. But there’s no place I’d rather have grown up. It’s rough, but it has character. I’ve met some of my best friends in those same parks that are strewn with glass. I’ve met some of the most caring teachers within the same walls that I’ve met some of the worst ones. So all in all, Hartford is a 3/5. There’s so much wrong in our city, but with some cleanup efforts & more funding toward education- we have the potential be so much more.
Hartford, CT is the place where John Morgan (the creator of JP Morgan) was born, but of course that was over two decades ago. Hartford is the mini version of NYC. 1/4 of the city is crowed with tall buildings and business man walking around in their black Nordstrom's suits, but the other third are those who live above their needs and constantly feel like they are in a financial burden. People view Hartford as a slum town but it has always intrigued me. As an immigrant who came from a country where poverty was surround by her, it showed that people take things for granted. It does not matter what financial state you are in but as long as you spend $8 every morning at Starbucks, you'll be fine, or you find the needs to spend $300 dollar on a hoodie because it is "comfortable". Some of us had the opportunity to learn about money and the acceptance of ourself when we where younger, but many of us did not. It would be more beneficial for us citizen if finance where more publicly taught.
