Grew up here, left in1951- 1964. Came back in 1980. Left again in 1984, came back in 2010. Just couldnt stay away. Like a bad penny, just keep showing up. Its my home and the next time I leave will be when I go to heaven. Been a great home and lots of great memories.
Hannibal is a very cute town right on the edge of the Mississippi river. It has lots of cute touristy things, all of which are related to Mark Twain. It also has a very lovely down town area. Personally, I am a bit more of a leftist and it is a fairly conservative town. We have recently been adding lots of pretty murals and other art around the town. There are a few nice restaurants, but most people like to drive across the river for about 20 minutes and eat in Quincy, IL, or do any big/mall shopping.
Hannibal has such an amazing atmosphere. People are really nice to tourists and care about the well-being of others. It's a nice small town.
