Blessed to grow up and live here. Half Moon Bay is a small town which means low crime and a kind community. It's also only 30-40 minutes from larger cities like San Mateo and San Francisco in case you need something that the stores in Half Moon Bay don't have. The combination of rolling hills/mountains and the Pacific Ocean coastline makes for over the top views on hikes and an extremely diverse bird population. There are beautiful backroads here and top notch farms. People give you a smile and a wave as you pass them walking down the street, all part of the beautiful community here. Locals are the best people ever as long as you don't drive below the speed limit on Highway 1!
Half Moon Bay is a beautiful beachside town. However, it has become a bit of a tourist trap. Traffic can be horrendous on weekends, and local shops all close around 5pm. If you need to run out for something at night, it'll have to be from Safeway or CVS. That being said, the scenery is gorgeous and the people are very friendly. It's nice for a day trip or a little getaway.
Small town atmosphere where everyone knows and looks out for each other YET close to all the Bay Area has to offer in culture. By the ocean with wild shores , outstanding airport for small planes though jet could land if necessary, the organic farms are farm to table with MANY great restaurants.
