lived here for 20 years. Great beach town. close to the big city of San Luis Obispo and the fantastic airport there.. Amtrak station in Grover Beach. Half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. People are friendly. golf courses nearby along with many other recreational activities, surfing, sailing, wlaking trails, biking,
I grew up in this wonderful city, it is where I feel most comfortable! I love how close it is to the beach! I could ride my bike, drive or jog to the beach. As much as I love it here, there is not a lot of fun things to do here. I would love to see more activities and stores around here. I have family and friends that come to visit but we end up running out of things to do. I hope in the future I will see more establishments here.
Safe beach town with wonderful eatery's and plenty of sights that will take your breath away! Whether you decide to go check out some local winery's or you want to cool off at the local beach after a long day of hiking and exploring...Grover Beach has it all plus more!
Grover Beach is a small, poor and run down city. There have been more crimes lately and I would love to see the city reclaiming this town. Grover Beach needs more activities for younger people, safer streets and less crime.
Grover Beach is a great place to live. It's right by the beach and a monarch butterfly grove and has tons of cute little thrift stores. It's a very laid back atmosphere and the locals call it the 'land of potholes and potheads'. The only thing is that sometimes you can run out of things to do because it's a pretty small town.
Born and raised local. Great area 20 years ago, now it’s overcrowded, overpriced, dirty, tons of drugs(crank meth) and homeless, bad schools, great weather. Husband and I are both born and raised and can’t afford to stay so we are actually planning on moving out of California. 2bdrm apartment with termites, built in 70s, no washer or dryer, no back yard, $1,595mo plus renters insurance we started at $1,100. No one takes animals even with extra deposit. Must make at least 3x rent and have credit scores over 650 to even be considered by property managements. People used to be a lot friendlier but so many uppity rich people moved here with their snobby attitudes. Also, we’re running out of water have been for quite some time so city charges an arm and leg for it and will shut you off or fine the hell out you if you exceed monthly limits. The only thing good here is the weather that is it. In case you were wondering the Pacific Ocean is freezing cold.
I've been in Grover Beach since 2006. The potholed streets are STILL in disrepair, and it's mid-2018. I guess we should congratulate the city for getting it done at all. The water cost here is astronomical if you are a homeowner. The city will might even turn your water off for being late on your bill before you know it. I've seen businesses and restaurants go in and out of business and the ones that are decent, you pay a lot for here. The sad little downtown area is severely lacking. North Grover (above Grand Ave.) is nicer, but the "pocket" neighborhoods can go from peaceful to absolutely horrible. South Grover (below Grand Ave.) is even worse. Don't expect to take a walk to enjoy the weather without a roaming neglected dog chasing you down. I've never seen or heard more barking dogs left to roam or locked up ever in my life. Did you want to sit outside and feel to the ocean breeze? Enjoy that cigarette or pot smoke! All the smokers are in Grover Beach! Not a great place to live.
Grover Beach is very close to three different beaches here on the coast line. We always have 70 degree weather year round and it has a small town feel, but you can drive 20 minutes to a big city. I would like to see cheaper rent here because it is expensive to live here.
Everything is easily accessible, few to no one-way streets, plenty of entertainment opportunities. However the streets badly need repaving.
I love the proximity to the ocean here in Grover Beach. It is primarily a bedroom community and there are not a whole lot of businesses, so the City struggles with affording basic infrastructure repairs, i.e. the roads here are horrendous. To mitigate this, they have implemented increased taxes on homeowners here in Grover Beach. They are working on attracting businesses to install themselves here, hopefully to help generate tax revenue to improve Grover Beach over time.
I love that the living costs are a little more reasonable than the surrounding areas, and you are still right next to the beach. Great weather and happy people. :)
One of the most beautiful places i have ever been. The beaches , friendly folks , dinning , perfect family vacation town , or a great place to live
I love living in Grover Beach California. I love that when I am on my way home the ocean is fully visible from my street.
Quiet, old beach town. Grover Beach is located near Cuesta College Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (~20 minutes away). The cost of living is low compared to nearby San Luis Obispo and is located close to a variety of small, cultured beach towns. The crime rate is low any many of the residents are either friendly old locals or students. The surf community here is prominent, and you will often see locals from the "5 cities" (dubbed for Grover, Shell, Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande and Oceano) out in the water. Overall a very relaxing and comfortable place to live with a low crime rate. The cost of living is slowly rising as people discover it's beauty!
Grover Beach, CA is a small town located on the Central Coast. There are lots of places to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, many hiking locations, and a great beach. Being a smaller town has its benefits as there are not too many tourists, except for in the summer. The weather cannot be beat. Almost year round there is a cool breeze and fresh air to breathe. My experience in Grover Beach has been great!
I like the proximity to the beach, there are beautiful trees, plants, buildings and great views. I would like to see more security though, just recently a street lamp was put in on my street, I wish there were more!
It's a very safe town. Not a lot of criminal activity happens. You don't really have to worry about getting robbed on the street.
