I love the small town lifestyle. The small business atmosphere of downtown is very inviting. Our community is very close and quick to support others in their time of need , whether it be tragedy or just a tough time with the ups and downs of life. There is a wonderful spiritual environment in and around the city and people love to say hi just walking down the street. Also, there is a great support system for the community within our peace officers and emergency heroes. They are always visible and ready to help change a tire, get your lost or stolen property back, talk to a child before just considering them “lost” or trade their life for yours if called. All in all, the town of Grinnell is truly the “Jewel of the Prairie”!

Grinnell was a wonderful place to grow up and is an even better place e to live today. We are the true definition of community. We have it all; great schools, churches, night life, community based activities, hospital, public service depts, and most of all great people! JB Grinnell, our founder, would be proud of what we have become. Check us out, we are a true Jewel of the Prairie.
I grew up in Grinnell and it was a great place to live! The college provides a lot for our town, and I feel that we have plenty of things to do within our town even though it's small. In my opinion, the community is very connected and super supportive.
