Crime & Safety
I have lived in Grimes for a little over ten years. It has grown very quickly during that period of time. The town has grown so quickly that the school and city infrastructure has had a hard time keeping up. The class sizes are now approaching 250, which is larger than we would like. I feel like the town cares much more about new people, businesses, etc. It feels like the city council and mayor want growth just because places like Ankeny and Waukee have had it.
I have grown up in the town of Grimes as I attended Dallas Center Grimes High School and I have always thought highly of this town. It is smaller and such a tight knit community. If someone needs something the community comes together to do their best to help out where they are needed. The school district is also amazing. The education you receive while at DC-G is outstanding. Overall Grimes is a great place to raise a family and build a life.
While I have not lived in the community very long, I feel the people here are quite nice and willing to help. You may have to ask due to the times we are in but Grimes natives are more than willing to help you navigate the town, area and help with what your need. Great little, BIG town.
