Gridley has always been a small town with a strong community. Overall, your experience here really depends on which area you live in. Downtown (Pre-COVID-19) will have events such as, Butte County Fair, Winter Wonderfest with the Parade of Lights, and the exclusive community event of Gridley, Red Suspenders Day. After the fires in the surrounding area, many people have evacuated to Gridley after losing their homes, increasing the population. The schools have had improvements on security because of the increase of students using drugs and fights on campus have decreased significantly over the years.
Nothing to change about this town! It's a family orientated based town. So if your looking for that small town vibes and a supportive community, then this is definitely the place. Having lived there my whole life, its a generally awesome place to live and the people are super nice. They have a moderate amount of things they put on, like the Red Suspenders Day Parade. Gridley is also in a great location being that major cities are decently close either way. Gridley is also an agriculturally based farming town, where the major crops are rice and peaches mostly. Gridley also offers two different styles of living, so if you want to live either out in the country or in the city it offers that. Overall great place to be and live!
The town of Gridley is rather an interesting one. I wouldn't say it was terrible but it isn't all that great either. There are only about seven thousand people located in Gridley so it is rather small. The high School only has about 700 students and the middle school about 200. The town is quite conservative, but it is still diverse, which is good. There are many places to eat at, although many of them are fast food restaurants. It is in the middle of Highway 99 so it is a town where lots of people stop to get something to eat, which is why the fast food restaurants are so successful. There are two main parks as well as a small skate park. There are two new residential communities which have been around for a couple of years now, which does raise the value of the town.
