Gretna is a great little place to live, on the Mississippi River. There is an excellent police department, always policing and available. They have some of the best equipment at the station. It is an excellent place to live- many restaurants & bars, and a wonderful festival, The Gretna Heritage Festival with music groups, who are both internationally known and local talent. The schools are not the best, Gretna Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High School are advanced. Students often attend parochial schools across the river in New Orleans. I feel very safe in Gretna and am anxious to visit soon.

Gretna is a very quaint city outside of New Orleans, LA. Historic, or "Old Gretna," as it is called, is a quiet community. It is perfect for families and is very safe. Gretna Policeman are always on the lookout and there are rarely any disturbances. There are many great shopping locations, along with restaurants with great food. Anything that you are looking for can be found in Gretna! While it is a small, calm suburb, it is only about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown New Orleans. Gretna is truly the best of both worlds.
The city of Gretna is very calm and an easy place to live in. Everything is pretty close and you can get around things quickly. The neighborhood I live in is calm and the neighbors around me are very welcoming and nice. I recommend living in the city of Gretna, especially since I have been living here for about 20 years!
