I like that this town feels like home. Its such a small town but its nice to see that there are so many people that have grown up with each other. If you were to visit, you would wish that you could have grown up in this town and established the kind of relationships and family that people have here
Majority of the people living here are very friendly and welcoming. This is a small tight-knit community, everyone knows everyone. The school district is very good academically.
There are almost no crimes where I live. The police are always out to catch people who speed or drunk drivers. I feel very safe in my town. Most people may not feel the need to lock their doors during the day.
Mother nature can never decide what she wants. In the spring/ fall time it can be 30 degrees windy and dreary, and the next it can be almost 60 sunny and beautiful. During the summer months (June- August) the weather is usually very hot and sunny with the occasional rain storm. The average temperature is from 65-85 with some days reaching about 90. In the winter months (November- March) there is always a lot of snow. The only natural disasters that we have are very big snow storms of a couple of feet at a time.
There is the small store to work at which is mostly for college/ high school students. There are three main companies that the locals work at which are American Steel, New England Forest Products, and Crotched Mountain Rehab. But that doesn't give much of a range of employment opportunities. At Crotched Mountain there is a range of work from in the school helping kids with autism or in the hospital working with patients who have brain injuries. Most people in Greenfield have to travel outside the area for work.
