Greeneville is a very old American town; home of President Andrew Johnson and so there is a lot of history to be found here. Bordering the Appalachian National Forest, there are many wonderful views found throughout the town and many places you can be completely submerged in nature; from peaceful valleys, to abundant forests, to rugged mountain terrains, to river fronts and singing mountain creeks. Housing costs are low and there are decent paying manufacturing jobs readily available. The potential is incredible. That said, it currently stands as just that; potential.
When it comes to the society in Greeneville, that's where things become trickier. The local government seems to want to 'preserve' the town by continuously halting growth. Thus may or may not feed into the extremely terrible drug issue here which in turn feeds into a common crime issue. The town remaining so small and limited also requires travels for pretty much everything. Change needs to start from within.

I have lived in many states and many different cities within those states. I have seen small towns barely able to get by, and I have seen some small towns provide an environment of home and peace. Greeneville, TN has an overall aroma of peace and unity. Every single individual you meet is smiling with a caring nature to their presence. From hospital employees to middle school teachers to Walmart cashiers, they all carry themselves with confidence and ease that shows me how great a town can thrive when all the citizens are open to newcomers, are open to new experiences, and are closed off to hateful words and actions. I could see myself staying here long term.
Greeneville is nice. I like that it isn't overpopulated. The town would be a lot nicer if some of the empty buildings in the historic downtown were renovated, or at least occupied. The city continues to expand, while so many buildings are just sitting around not being used. The scenery and views of the mountains are breathtaking in some areas. People in Greeneville are friendly, for the most part. There is a wide Christian community that offers an abundance of help for ones in need. There aren't very many jobs to be found here, but due to expansion, business continue to open proving new jobs every year.
