I liked that it provided my family with a place to live away from the city. Firstly, Paddy Hill Elementary School and Athena Middle and High School provided me with a good experience. Secondly, Greece is car-dependent; my family needed a car to go anywhere. I faced many driving lessons and road test nerves as a result. Thirdly, even though that RIT, one of the best colleges in the country, is a car commute away, that alone makes me dread having to drive, plus the buses that the college has been very rare to come by. If you are moving to Greece from a foreign country, it is crucial to know that your children are likely to forget their mother tongue by living there, as there is rarely any incentive to keep their language. Plus, any children of immigrants would not have any free time to relax and work very hard at anything; this comes to the detriment of our humility.
Greece is a good place to live compared to a lot of places in America. It may not be the richest but the people here are very easy going and keep to themselves. It is very easy to get from place to place as the traffic is never too bad and there are a lot of stores and attractions within walking distance from the housing streets. Greece is a fairly diverse place as I have friends of multiple different religions, races and cultural backgrounds.
I grew up in Greece, NY. Growing up I enjoyed that I had plenty of neighbors in our neighborhood. I could walk or bike to many places, and the schools were decent. There were also a lot of sports opportunities. However as I have grown up, I notice some changes that could make Greece better.
Overall, Greece needs to be more diverse. It is predominantly Caucasian, and not as inclusive as it should be. There are also a lot of nursing homes that are being built. Instead of building so many, Greece should create more resources and opportunities for young professionals. Young professionals leave the area, because there aren't as many opportunities here after students graduate.
In terms of infrastructure, Greece is behind in keeping up with its sidewalks, and having safety measures like bike lanes for people to use.
