Great fallsis a lovely, nice place to live. It is very family friendly and the people and the community is very nice. No one really bothers anyone else and it is really very peaceful, calm, and quiet. There are a lot of families, but most of the children stay indoors. Rarely do you see children playing outside very often. The trees are especially nice and the surrounding area of brush is bright and lush in the spring and summer. It is also wonderful to see the trees change colors in the fall and in the winter, snow covered trees are beautiful. It looks like a holiday greeting card!
I've lived in Great Falls for a while and it's pretty ok. Great Falls has no governing body, and all of the neighborhoods are connected into one with a plaza in the middle. So, its basically a bedroom community for DC. Everyone here has a very country-club type lifestyle, and it is very hard to find a social group here if you do not have that type lifestyle. My family does not belong to a country club, and because of this we are seldom included in social events. As a teenager, it's nice to be ten minutes away from DC, because I honestly prefer the atmosphere there. Anyway, Great Falls in kind of like a typical suburbia with a weird ultra-rich culture. The nature and scenery is great, especial Great Falls park. The general vibe is a mixture between sleepy and rich new york social scene. It's very odd.
We lived 11 years in Great Falls and still own a home there in the hope of returning one day. Fantastic location, close to DC and the Reston/Tysons Corner corridor, very green/close to nature, very pleasant and with a great community feel. You can't beat the Concerts on the green, the 4th of July parade and all the community events. Great schools too. And it hasn't changed much over the years. Just love this place!
