Living in great falls is great! It is a pretty quiet area, not much to do in the actual town. However, there are great little shops and restaurants. I truly enjoy living here as the people are very friendly and most homes have a decent amount of land. People are very animal friendly and outdoor-sy. Additionally, you are 15 minutes from Tysons and 15 minutes from Reston which are both FULL of things to do.
I have resided in Great Falls Virginia for 14 years so far and still love here today!! The schools here are among the best in the nation! As a result of the countryside vibes, crime rarely happens here, making Great Falls the safest place in NoVa. The area in and around Great Falls is a tourist’s playground because we are only 20-25 minutes the nation’s capital! The residents of Great Falls are real friendly people and they get along with you very well. Great Falls is the place where neighbors become life-long friends! Nike Pike is an awesome recreational area located along VA-7 (Leesburg Pike) where family and friends can truly enjoy playing sports with each other. As a result of the countryside vibe, Great Falls is not a walkable town and you need a car to run your daily errands. The best parts of town are the Village Center and Great Falls Park, where you the images of the waterfall are forever in your mind! In the village center, we have plenty of diners, cafés, and shops!
Great Falls is a very rich, suburban community with beautiful homes and cute little restaurants and cafes. This is definitely a place to live when one has settled down with kids. Homes are incredibly expensive (ours was upwards of 2 million). There are lovely community events in the town, including free Easter, Fourth of July, concert events, and car shows (at least pre-Covid). Nobody is rather flashy with their money, but you can tell when one makes a lot (which is nearly everybody in this town). Though nobody is rude, you may start to feel judgement when there are discrepancies between you and others in the town; for example, seeing the several luxury cars of others and starting to feel a bit insecure. There is also absolutely zero crime in Great Falls. However, the diversity is limited; there is a very, very small population of blacks or hispanics in this town and almost everybody you will meet is white.
