My wife and I moved to the area with our 2 month old baby after living most of our lives in Colorado and we could not be happier. Great Barrington and the Southern Berkshires is the perfect place to live. We are surrounded by beautiful nature and have all of the amenities we need. There are green mountains and perfect rivers and lakes everywhere here, we never run out of free things to do outside year round. We are also in the middle of an amazing arts and culture scene. The food and restaurants are amazing too, catering to the weekenders from New York and Boston. Its small town living with big city amenities and culture, everything you could want or need is here. Great schools, libraries, parks and playgrounds for the kids. It really is a special place with four true and beautiful seasons. And the people here are all so nice! There is no better place to live for a young family. We love it here!!!

Great Barrington is beautiful and full of adventure. We have the best food and best theater programs around. We were literally named Best little Town in America. We are famous for Arts and Food, but we also have the most beautiful ski resorts within miles of each other.
It's a very, very small town. Generally, its population is college students and retirees from New York. It's not very close to anything, but it's certainly not a terrible town. It's good for what it is, which is a tiny town in the Berkshires. You won't get a bustling nightlife, and cost of living can be high, but the small neighborhoods make for decent living.
