I used to come here a lot with my dad, as a kid. Now that I live here I am enjoying it even more! There is so much diversity, so much to do during the night and day, but in the same breath, it is family friendly down town as well. If you want to live more healthily, there are tons of gyms, healthy food options, both for eating out or shopping to eat in. Commute time is not bad since everything is pretty close. I went from commuting over an hour to and from work everyday, to now 15 minutes, maybe 20 if there is snow or a traffic accident. Over all would recommend living here!
I love how much there is to do in the area for all ages- Everything from college students to families to older individuals. There are tons of restaurants and bars that offer delicious food and beverages. I've lived here for 10 years and still continue to enjoy living here.
I enjoy living here. I feel it's fairly safe and there's a good amount of things to do. Transportation could be better in my opinion but otherwise, it's a very nice area. Fairly clean.
I was worried about being away from home in a whole other state. I have enjoyed my time being here. I feel like I am at home.
I love that Grand Rapids is a happy place However, there are many things that needs work and /or changes.
Grand Rapids is a wonderful city to live in, especially downtown. The Grand River is such a beautiful spot to take walks and spend time. Some of my favorite memories are going on walks along the river with my friends and family. I also appreciate the many options of things to do around town, restaurants, parks, museums, stores and more. The schools are also from my experience very nice, schools of choice is a great opportunity that my family has been a part of, through which I have been able to attend a great school that I otherwise wouldn't have because I live out of district. I also really appreciate all of the freedoms available to me here. Another great thing about this community is the transportation available. First of all, it is very walkable. This summer, I either walked or rode my bike to the local place where I worked. However, there are also free buses available and environmentally friendly taxi cars are even starting to become available.
While there are good and bad sides to every city, East Grand Rapids is gorgeous and the locals are friendly. Although, certain areas can be unsafe and that needs to be improved upon. Downtown is great for a night out, but I do wish that there were more activities to do aside from shopping or eating/visiting new restaurants
nice clean city. people are nice and stores are available in most areas. cost of living may be expensive based on occupation.
Grand Rapids is a really great city with a lot going on. It’s like a big city but it is a small city. It is also known as beer city USA so there are a ton of breweries and bars and really good nightlife for young people especially.
I love Grand Rapids! Cool restaurant and music scenes. Always a basement to hang out and see a local band in.
I like the diversity that Grand Rapids has and how it’s a tight knit community.
I really just wish that there were more events for teens and young adults. I feel they are usually for kids or adults

This area has everythin you need without the headache of a big city. It is an hour from lake michigan beaches and 2 hours from detroit, 2.5 hours from chicago anything you need is close by!
Grand Rapids is still growing, and it has most anything you'd want from a big city without feeling oppressive. Some areas are becoming gentrified, but in general it's a down to earth place. Big plus is that it's less than an hour away from Lake Michigan!!
Nightlife is not the greatest though. But if you have great friends you make your own nightlife!

Grand Rapids is a great place to live with many activities to do with family indoors and outdoors. For example, you are always 30 minutes away from many beaches. During the winter, downtown lights up their bridges, and you can feel safe as a family. On the other hand, there are many malls and movie theaters for safe families indoors. Grand Rapids is a great place to start a new family with many different school options and churches to start a community to a small group with.
A super fun city with lots to do. Lots of restaurants and events. I highly recommend visiting this city.
Grand Rapids, Michigan, has become very diverse. It is almost like a smaller version of Chicago, Illinois. Over the past decade, the city has grown and developed exponentially. Overall, the population has increased, job opportunities, real estate, education opportunities, business opportunities, colleges, healthcare, and support. This city is a great place to start and raise a family. You get the best of both worlds either with the city life or the suburban life.
Grand Rapids and the suburbs around it are cool. In the inner city it can be a little bit more dangerous, but for a big city it is relatively safe. Lots of cool buildings and things to do as well.
