Recently moved to Goldsboro from Southern California. Many have asked me here WHY! I am 57 and it is a slower pace and most of the resources I need Medical, Shopping, Marketing and QUIET- are here. I live on the edge of town so I like the quiet. The jet noise from the AFB is not too over the top. On occasion it can be a busy day in that regard and a bit noisy but most of the time it is very tolerable. I can see why younger folks would be bored here as there are minimal places for night outings such as sports bars and clubs. Since most of that is out of my system so to speak, I find it a perfect getaway for those looking for somewhat quieter times. I am close enough to surrounding busier towns, so my attitude is- if I need more hustle bustle I can drive there in a short time. I like the town and so far the folks here are kind and easy to get along with. I give it a 4 only because I think some people might need more amusements.
Goldsboro is a city in Wayne County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 36,437 at the 2010 Census. It is the principal city of and is included in the Goldsboro, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. The nearby town of Waynesboro was founded in 1787, and Goldsboro was incorporated in 1847. It is the county seat of Wayne County. The city is situated in North Carolina's Coastal Plain and is bordered on the south by the Neuse River and the west by the Little River, about 40 miles southwest of Greenville, 50 miles southeast of Raleigh, the state capital, and 75 miles north of Wilmington in Southeastern North Carolina. Goldsboro is best known as home to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Goldsboro is a pretty great small town, and is working pretty hard on building up it's community. Recently, Goldsboro has redone the downtown area and it looks incredible. Goldsboro also houses Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, which brings a lot of unity, cool people, and community to town. Goldsboro does have some faults, like a few dangerous streets and not the best public school system, but it has great history and a lot of people who are constantly trying to better it.
