If you want the convenience of all everything Orlando has to offer (and better prices than Winter Park, Windermere, Dr. Phillips, etc), this area is great! You're away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. PLENTY of shopping and great restaurants within just a few short miles. Schools (particularly Valencia, Full Sail, and UCF) are all nearby. Everything really is at your disposal here, AND you're extremely close to toll roads (417 & 408), making it easy to get ANYWHERE quickly.
Overall, the UCF area is decent enough. It's not the loud area you would expect for a college area, but it's not without it's faults. For a college area, there is surprisingly little to do; no movie theater or no nightclubs that I know of. Most of the nightlife hangouts are more bar-like. Plenty of places to eat, and some varied styles of food, but still not as many as you'd expect for an area with so many students. Gas is more expensive than in many parts of the Orlando Metro area thanks for the toll roads. Arbor Ridge School is excellent and considered one of the best in the county. The real estate market is only just starting to bounce back. There has been a noticeable increase in crime since we moved here in 2010. The area is diverse thanks to the students in the area. If you don't work for the university or Siemens there are few job prospects which means a long commute downtown.
I love the Goldenrod area because we are filled with rich florida history. We are centrally located between orlando, oviedo and winterpark, a short drive to get anywhere including the theme parks. Goldenrod is quite, unincorporated and a part of beautiful Seminole County. The trees and residents are established and take care of eachother.
