Glide is wonderful if you love the outdoors. The gorgeous North Umpqua flows right on bye. Glide is on the edge of the Cascades mountain range and a little over an hour from the coast. For anyone who loves the outdoors it is the perfect town. However, there is little diversity, no night life, and no shopping in the Glide community. For anything more than convenience items one has to commute 20 miles to Roseburg, Oregon.
I love the peace and quiet of this hometown, as well as being part of the tightly-knit community. The weather is reasonable, the scenery cannot be beat, and the overall atmosphere makes it feel like home.
There has never been a great amount of crime, but most of the criminal/prowler issues have been resolved with a dedicated and observant watch of those in the Glide community.
