Glen Carbon is a neighboring small town of Edwardsville. While Edwardsville is bigger and has more businesses, there is not much separation between the two and there is less than a 5 minute drive to get from most areas of Glen Carbon into Edwardsville. Glen Carbon still has all of the benefits from Edwardsville, but there is more open space in Glen Carbon. The houses are generally more spread out in the neighborhoods of Glen Carbon and the town itself has been growing steadily in the past few years. As with Edwardsville, there is such a short drive into St. Louis that the commute for working there and for visiting there is an easy drive over the river. There are very nice houses in both Edwardsville and in Glen Carbon, however the yards in Glen Carbon are generally a bit bigger. Glen Carbon also is a bit safer than Edwardsville and is a great place to raise a family.

Glen Carbon is a part of Edwardsville School District. The principal at the high school refers to his school as the "premier high school in the state of illinois." Niche ranks us at 25, but we don't really consider Chicago as a part of Illinois down here anyway. Glen Carbon and Edwardsville are nearly indistinguishable from each other, but we got the Walmart so ha ha.
I love the local friendly people around this area. I've been living in this town for 13 years now and still love it. There are great local restaurants, places to shop, activities to do with family and friends, and there is an amazing school district!
