There is no other place I would have wanted to grow up in the world than Gilroy. Although we are the Garlic producer capitol of the world, Gilroy is also close to wherever someone would want to go. We are 45 minutes from the beach in Santa Cruz, 15 minutes from redwoods in Mount Madonna, ninety minutes from San Francisco, and thirty minutes from San Jose and the rest of the Silicon Valley.

I've also never felt as safe in any other towns I've lived in as I did in Gilroy. I went to school in the rustic Berkeley and the sleepy town of Davis but Gilroy always gave me a sense of comfort.
Gilroy is an interesting place. It's not perfect, but within the next few years I predict it will start to blossom. The Gilroy Premium outlets attract a lot of out of town foot traffic. Also, we get a lot of attention during the Garlic Festival. It really is amazing when you get to the festival and you realize that it's put together and run by volunteers. The Garlic Festival really brings the community and benefits it in a huge way.
