There is no other place I would have wanted to grow up in the world than Gilroy. Although we are the Garlic producer capitol of the world, Gilroy is also close to wherever someone would want to go. We are 45 minutes from the beach in Santa Cruz, 15 minutes from redwoods in Mount Madonna, ninety minutes from San Francisco, and thirty minutes from San Jose and the rest of the Silicon Valley.

I've also never felt as safe in any other towns I've lived in as I did in Gilroy. I went to school in the rustic Berkeley and the sleepy town of Davis but Gilroy always gave me a sense of comfort.
Gilroy is a lovely town filled with lovely people. Although there might not be anything exciting to do, Gilroy Gardens and the Simon outlets are always options and can offer a bit of excitment. The Gilroy Garlic festival is also available (when in town) and offers great food, music, and entertainment.
