Gilbert is a small town. However, it is full of friendly people and close to many other nearby towns, who have much to offer. It is only about 20 minutes from Lexington and is located on Lake Murray, which offers countless hours of Summer fun, including wakesurfing, skiing, paddleboarding, and swimming. It's a great town with much to offer, despite its small size!

I come from a small town in South Carolina, named Gilbert. And I know we have all read the books and seen the movies that romanticize these small southern towns. I come from a town where adults will walk the halls & pray for strength & healing for their students. I come from a town where we stand for the band. I come from a town where we tailgate & paint up for every sport. I come from a town where we know everyone's business. I come from a town where when someone passes, everyone mourns. I come from a town where everyone supports one another & loves one another like we are one big family. Yes, there are some disadvantages to living in a small town, like everyone knowing your business & waking up & smelling the chicken houses, but I would not change this small town for anything because this small southern town has made me into who I am. I am someone who strives to change the world by being there for people in their toughest times, just like my small hometown did for me.
I’ve lived in Gilbert my entire life, and I love living here. It’s a really nice, beautiful small town. It’s got a good school and a lovely community!
