Disappointed in the way the town has evolved. Ghost tours and 'ghostly everything' has put such a weird negative vibe - shops are all trying to tap into ghost capitalism, which is, in my opinion, very disrespectful to the soldiers who gave their all and fought here. Plus, because of the 'ghost this and ghost that' atmosphere, it's drawing a lot of seances around the battlefield. Again, very disrespectful to the soldiers. I can't tell you how many times we've driven around the battlefield and groups of people are have seances. That aspect is polluting the town in drudgery / cheap shops, etc. They need to fix Gettysburg back up and draw better shops, restaurants, etc. As a side note, we visited Gettysburg just prior to the 2020 general election in which we saw Black Lives Matter rioters on the square with flags, banners, and hecklers with speakerphones harassing visitors - even laying down in the street blocking traffic! The Mayor (Mayor Streeter) does nothing as he's too timid. Sad...
Do you enjoy not having to use your brain? Do you think your high school education is good enough for you? Do you think things should remain the way they are because that's the way they have always been. Then Gettysburg is the place for you!
I grew up here, and each time I return, it feels like the place that time forgot. Were it not for the tourism industry, you would be reading about Gettysburg alongside other small towns that have all but evaporated.
It should not come as a complete surprise that those of who left the area for college did not return. Even if we did want to return, I'm not sure where we would work.

My time living at gettysburg has been beautiful and full of history. Living here feels safe and comfy, like I can leave my car and house unlocked all day and nothing would go sour!
