It is pretty safe in my experience, and the people are friendly. It is a diverse area and there's a decent amount of things to do and places to shop. The homes are nice and the schools are good. Good area to be.
It generally a good place, but recently i feel like there has been a lot of violence and crimes. The resturants/food is great, an there are plenty of parks to go to with friends and family.
I live in a nice neighborhood but most of Germantown is going downhill in terms of crime. I typically hang out in Gaithersburg with my friends. I love the diversity my community offers though.
I like the community and the people in Germantown. However, it does have its faults like every other place does.
It is a diverse place, a center of Montgomery County where your children can be safe. There aren't many places to go to, but it's a rather quaint part of Maryland.
I moved to Germantown 12 years ago, which is a very family-friendly area. There are a lot of places to walk and eat, with a lot of greenery. There is also the local Soccerplex, which has many soccer fields, a public indoor swimming, tennis courts, and a small water park. Another great thing about Germantown is the diversity, not just ethnically but also socioeconomically and almost in every sense.
I would like to see more activities for people here. There's a lot of places to eat and it's a very diverse area, which I like a lot, and most people here are very accepting of others. There aren't many places to go do things besides restaurants and the local library. The library is also great and I like going there, but I would want to have some more community gathering spots that encourage physical activity.
Picture the most generic and well put together suburb. That is Germantown, MD. It has plenty of grocery stores, good schools, great response times from police and firefighters and it even has a Top Golf. There isn't much more someone could ask for in a suburb.
Germantown is a quiet town for the most part. There are many amenities and places to visit which is great for the general consumer. The people in Germantown are generally very kind and friendly which are great characteristics for building a family. What's not so great is the rising crime rate. Recently, there has been robberies, shootings, and other incidents that plague the town but overall Germantown is still a good place to live in.
Very clean, nice neighbors, and pretty much the perfect picturesque suburb to raise a family. Good schools, walking trails, diverse population, it's no surprise it's one of the best areas to have kids and send them to school. The one issue is that it's very, VERY, expensive to live in this area, and while you can find places that cost less, it's very uncommon and the openings go fast. Compound that with the current inflation and state of the housing market, and say goodbye to any hopes of getting a bigger house for a rapidly expanding family.
Good if you're a doctor or lawyer, not so much if you're a small business owner.

Overall, Germantown is a wealthy city relative to other places in Maryland. However, I grew up in a low-income neighborhood so my experiences are a bit negatively skewed. It is still a safe place to live.
It is fairly a small town with not much to do. Not to say there is nothing to do but your options are a tad limited. Thankfully this town is also quite safe and I never feel afraid to be outside alone.
Since I have lived in Germantown my whole life(I'm 19 years old), I pretty much explored everything there is to go to in Germantown. The neighborhoods, commute, public schools are all relatively safe in the day time.. Recently, around night time there has been some scary movements so that's one flag that I want to point out. It's important to say that to me or my family members, nothing has really happened that put us in danger because we keep to ourselves. For the most part, Germantown is a safe place if you don't go messing with something that you shouldn't be. The public schools and everywhere in Germantown is really diverse as well.
Pretty good. Love HEREE for majority of my life. Kinda boring, if you look forward to a outgoing type of area. Also pretty liberal.
I love the greenery all around Germantown, and all the diversity there. There are all sorts of shops wherever you live, so you won't have to commute too far. At the same time, it's not too urban, so you won't be disturbed by white noise at night.
Germantown is a very quiet and small town. It is a perfect place for retired people or families who would like their children to be raised in quiet places. This is also an industrial area, so there are always opening jobs nearby.
Quiet suburban neighborhood. Good place to raise a family. Good range of food and lots of things to do. It's close to parks and Washington D.C.
