While to those who are passing through into Austin, Georgetown may feel like any old concrete suburbia, but if one were to get off the interstate's beaten path, they would find quite a different outlook. Georgetown is both in touch with advancing art while also still upholding traditional styles. The town utilizes its most important asset: its natural beauty. The community born out of this aesthetic environment is like TexMex food as it combines the right flavors of separate distinctions to form a new idea. An excellent example is Georgetown's Red Poppy Festival. In the midst of the traditional Texas architecture of the town square, the festival celebrates evolving artists' work and promotes the local community while allowing the spring's natural poppies to take center stage. Even if one is not able to make the town’s seasonal festival, a trip to Blue Hole, the Georgetown library, or the town’s original neighborhood would all adequately give the visitor the same special atmosphere.
I moved here a year ago and I love this City! There is so much to do, from the Poppy Festival, to the weekend car shows, food trucks, nightlife, beautiful town square, and restaurants. Georgetown is just the right distance from Austin. Just a short 30 min drive. Although I have to say you would need to avoid traffic to get to Austin in that amount of time. We will never move! We love Georgetown!~
Wonderful community, nice people, beautiful historic homes and the square downtown. Great activities for families, close enough but not too close to busy, traffic-congested Austin, better prices on housing!
