Average at best. Overun by people who have enough money to not be able to afford Austin, but enough to create a cliquish elitest vibe in the closest place they can afford a McMansion with no yard. People ask the name of your Subdivision in conversation to assess status. All of the stores are still smaller satellite versions of stores, but the area has rapidly grown past capacity. Traffic is horrendous and most neighborhoods have no sidewalks and are completely car dependent. The hospital is still equivalent to a rural hospital despite development in the area. I still drive in to Austin for medical, and even that is subpar.
Over the last 5 years, Georgetown has greatly expanded activities within the town. They've built bars, and community outposts, and boosted the general morale of the community. I would like to see Georgetown lean more into its recreational activities and improve upon outdoor activities. I believe the addition of water quality maintenance to improve the water of the San Gabriel river will prove beneficial to the flora and fauna, as well as the inhabitants of the city. Having access to a body of water is proven to improve moods, stimulate a sense of belonging, as well as create a greater sense of belonging.
I love the small town feeling that Georgetown gives off! Here, everyone is connected! I love how no matter who you are everyone cane help out each other. Coming from the city life (Las Vegas), I was shocked by the positive environment created here. I’m very thankful and lucky that my family ended up moving here. I feel safer in Georgetown than I did in Las Vegas and I know that my town always has my back. I wouldn’t change a thing about my small town. I have made the best memories and the best friend in my little Texas town.
