Gate City Reviews
Gate City is a town that has a home-like feel. In the main part of town, there are a few small businesses. The schools in Gate City get more funding and are taken better care of then the rest of the schools in Scott County. There is a great dentist in the main part of town which also has quite a few lawyers. In terms of jobs, they are slim picking unless you like fast food, medical, teaching, call center or other typical jobs. If you are a college student seeking a job that pays a living wage or is in your field of study don't be surprised if you have a hard time finding something. If you want a place with a small town feel where everyone knows you Gate City could be it for you. It is close to the tri-cities were everything of interest is located. Perhaps the best thing Gate City has is the Creation Kingdom Zoo which is a great place for all ages. The town also has concerts, parades and the Relay For Life takes place on the high school football field.
Gate City is the type of town that is perfect to raise a family, in that it's safe, affordable, and its retained the small town values that we all know and love. As a young person there isn't a lot to do, but I honestly love it so much all the same because this is my Hometown and everybody I know feels the same; you gain a very strong sense of community and belonging here. Couldn't recommend it enough.
Small town but close to big cities to enjoy social, sports, music, and other activities. A place where you know most of the people and they know you.
