Majority of the people are friendly, I'd say. The others are mostly just crazy. Some drug stuff goes on here and there but I think it's like this everywhere. Not much fun stuff to do unless you wanna go on an exciting endeavor to the local Dollar Tree. Or Dollar General if you really wanna shake things up. School districts alright. Just got a new performing arts center at the high school. There are a decent amount entry level jobs from my personal research. The issue of safety just depends on where in Gaston you live. Some of it is great, but some is really dangerous. Cost of living is pretty affordable, though.
There are much better places to live. Since I have lived here I've seen more and more people fall to drugs and violence. Everyday you hear of something new that has happened. Which in a big city would make sense, but in a little town like this it is ridiculous. I have lived in many different places and I can say that after the last 8 years of living here, there are better places. There are some good people, but they are few and far between.
Gaston is a dirty, low income town. Yes it's small and quiet in most parts but if you are looking for a quality environment to raise kids, don't look in Gaston. Terrible schools, lots of drugs and drug addicts and the majority of people look and act like the came straight out of the movie deliverance. Nosey, gossipy and clicky people. It's also imported most of south America so every where you go you will swear your in Mexico. The only pro I've found is the cost of living is extremely cheap but remember, you get what you pay for.
