Friday Harbor is a beautiful, quaint town on the island of San Juan, the largest of the San Juan Islands. It's located in the upper lefthand corner of Washington State and you can often see Canada from the beach shores. Eagles, deer, whales, seals, fox, and rabbits share this serene space with islanders year round and tourists in the summer. There is a great sense of community, boasting farmers markets, yoga studios, book stores, art galleries, a whale museum, and many cozy cafes, wine bars, and delicious restaurants. I grew up sailing the open sea with my family, camping on surrounding islands, sighting whales and playing in the woods and on the endless beaches. The island is a great place for hiking, kayaking, boating, fishing, quiet time, meeting new friendly people, raising children, and appreciating the simple life. Many guest houses are available for rent. It is a wonderful place to breathe and rejuvenate!

Small town, great people, beautiful environment. Love to hike? The views are breathtaking, along with some of these hikes, but worth the effort! Mt. Grant, Mt. Young, Mt. Finlayson and Mt. Constitution, the tallest "Mt." in San Juan County on Orcas Island is over 2400 feet in elevation. You can also drive to the top for the stunning views in Moran State Park.
This quaint idyllic town offers the feel of home, community, and beauty. The journey to reach the islands is in itself an enlightening experience. Imagine a sweet ocean to take your breathe away, a view that has your so captivated that all those around you are in the same space of lost thought, the small towns that embrace the new and old timers. There is beauty all around. It is in the views, it is in the people - just come and allow the towns to embrace you and set you in a place so far back in time you really believed that this type of living did not exist.

Then take a journey back out to the water and let it revive your senses when you are on a boat in the Salish Sea awaiting Orca to pass you by or you may be paddling your kayak and view some sea-life very close at hand. Don't forget the tide-pools, the lavender farms, the light houses, the hiking that allows you to see all across and around the islands.

Let it all take you in...
