Fort Salonga is a great neighborhood. You feel as if you know all your neighbors. It feels safe in this community. Kids feels free to play and are trusted to do what is right. Family businesses dominate and so the owners know their customers on a personal level. I have lived here all my life, as many of the residents have. Many people have family nearby and remain in northport to help raise their kids' kids in the same place their own kids grew up in and enjoyed when they were younger.

You feel like you live in the country, far away from the city. There are plenty of trees and the roads feel like "country" roads. There are several parks nearby as well as the Long Island Sound. The only negative is that the property taxes are very high.
Food is amazing, especially in the Northport/Huntington areas.
