Ft. Lee is an affluent suburb of NYC with an urban flair. It's a bedroom community with mainly large co-ops and condos buildings. It's largest demographic is Korean business people. There's tons of traffic, bridgegate, that spills into town since first exit from George Washington Bridge, which comes with heavy police presence that can be harassing. It is not a friendly town to residents or outsiders. Many New Yorkers moved here with additudes and show off thier wealth. There has been massive luxury properties built in the past years that have overcrowded the schools and town with more to come. I can see immenant domain buying up older properties and more skyscrapers throughout the rest of town and transforming it completely into a mini NYC. That Mayor will make millions because his family owns a real estate business too. Town has already become overcrowded and congested and no longer desirable. People moved away from NYC for a better quality of life for thier family.
Fort Lee resident my entire life. Would not have wanted to grow up anywhere else in the world. Great schools. Close to the city. Walkable community. Also Bergen County is a fantastic and diverse county full of food and nature. The cost of living is admittedly high in Fort Lee, but I would recommend other surrounding cities as well.
Fort Lee, like many other towns in Bergen County, is known for being an "Asian centre" or "the town next to the bridge". However, I believe that Fort Lee is so much more than that. Having lived in this town for over a decade, I must say that it hasn't changed much since I first moved here. The education system, in my opinion, is one of the best ones in the county, if not New Jersey. There is a reason why I moved across the entire country from California to receive my education here in Fort Lee. Also, the accessibility to the city is very convenient, especially for teenagers who wish to hang out with their friends. However, for adults with cars, the traffic may be unbearable near the bridge; morning commutes are terrible here. Overall, Fort Lee has been my home ever since I was a kindergartener, and I love it. The overarching diversity and the bustling streets of Main Street are signs that Fort Lee is one successful city filled with all different types of people and cultures.
